Dr. Murty brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in periodontal and implant dentistry to our practice. As a key member of the Daniel Daniel Dentistry team, she is dedicated to providing you with the highest level of care and the most advanced technologies available. This highly respected dentist has been delivering extraordinary results and exceeding client expectations for nearly 10 years – giving them a lifetime of healthy, beautiful smiles! With great passion and commitment to her profession, Dr. Murty has put a tremendous investment in her career. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Murty obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Comprehensive and Aesthetic Dentistry in 1999. After graduating from the Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry, she traveled abroad to complete a six month hospital residency at the Sundaram Medical Foundation in Chennai, India. Dr. Murty’s intensive training focused on oral pathology, oral surgery and periodontology. She then returned to Nova Scotia to practice in Arichat in the beautiful Isle Madame, Cape Breton. After practicing for one and a half years, Dr. Murty moved back to Halifax where she has practiced ever since. Dr. Murty specializes in periodontology, as well as prosthetic and restorative dentistry. To stay on the cutting edge, Dr. Murty continuously takes course at highly esteemed institutes such as the Kois Center in Seattle Washington, the Perio Institute in Toronto, and the Goldman School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Dr. Murty is currently advancing her skills with training in restorative and surgical placement of osseointegrated implants. In addition to her work with Daniel Daniel Dentistry, Dr. Murty’s enthusiasm extends beyond our practice to the field of dental education. Since 2002, she has been sharing her knowledge and expertise as a Clinical Instructor for Department of Dental Clinical Sciences, Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry. Whether Dr. Murty is practicing at Daniel Daniel Dentistry, traveling throughout North America for professional development training and conferences, or teaching at Dalhousie University – she is always striving to be the best in her field. Dr. Segura brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in endodontics and oral surgery to our practice. He is thrilled to be part of the Daniel Daniel Dentistry team, and is dedicated to providing you with the highest level of care with the most advanced technologies in dentistry available. Graduating with high distinction in 2004, Dr. Segura obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Comprehensive and Aesthetic Dentistry from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. He also holds a Master of Health Science in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, 2007. While in dental school, Dr. Segura was the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious International College of Dentists Award for his combined dedication to the school, student leadership, and academic excellence. Working part-time for Daniel Daniel Dentistry and full-time as a Canadian Forces Dental Officer at CFB Halifax, Dr. Segura is highly experienced. During his tenure with the Canadian Forces, he has gained valuable knowledge and expertise in both endodontics and oral maxillofacial surgery. With a strong commitment to his profession, Dr. Segura has taken many comprehensive continuing education courses spanning a wide range of dental topics, particularly in endodontics and oral surgery. Jennifer Macfie, our Laser Certified Dental Hygienist, is a valuable member of the Daniel Daniel Dentistry team. With over 10 years of professional experience, she is committed to providing you with exceptional hygiene care. In 1995, Jennifer obtained her Diploma in Dental Hygiene from the Dalhousie University School of Dentistry. She first practiced in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, until returning home to Halifax to continue her career. Jennifer’s goal is to help you achieve and maintain your optimal oral health through the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of periodontal disease. In a relaxing, comfortable environment, she uses an expert hand, a gentle touch and state-of-the-art technology to give you the most advanced hygiene treatments available. As part of our commitment to excellence, Jennifer treats periodontal disease with Laser Hygiene Therapy. This new technology eliminates the infection, rather than manages the disease which was the traditional form of treatment. In addition, Jennifer performs a number of other vital procedures, including: medical history checks, oral cancer exams, fluoride treatments, periodontal charting, root planing (deep cleaning), scaling, full mouth debridement and taking x-rays. Jennifer is certified in the administration of Laser Hygiene Therapy and Zoom! teeth whitening. To keep your healthy teeth their brightest, Jennifer provides Zoom! in-house whitening and instructs clients on how to use their at-home whitening treatment kits. Jennifer strives to ensure that your smile will last a lifetime. Whether you have new porcelain veneers or filling replacements, she will create a custom hygiene treatment plan for you.
